How We Met

He says:

I remember meeting Mez when a friend our ours, Toshi, was hanging out with her one night and on that particular evening I was also hanging with my friend/former co-worker, Angie. This was back in 2009 and Toshi tole me about a Fabolous party at The Griffin for the release of Loso’s Way. We met Mez and Toshi at The Maritime Hotel for drinks and then walked over to the club. From there, I think Toshi included us on emails and I noticed she used an aol account, so I added her to my AIM Buddy List and then one day I hit her up and we started talking. Later in the summer I ran into her at a Summer Friday day party and we officially exchanged contact information (email, cell, etc.). This was during the BlackBerry era and she sent me a Messenger request but I denied it. I thought that was too direct, in terms of a communication line, and I joked (not really) that that would lead to more if we could access each other so easily. Fast forward to January 2010 and we were both in Miami, her for Super Bowl partying and me for work. We were emailing back and forth and she sent me a photo of her in her outfit for that night and I immediately changed my plans: I invited her to come to a Maxim party with me. We missed each other multiple times that night (timing), but we started talking more often after that. And I relented and accepted her BBM request. (It was easy to acquiesce; good conversation + she was smoking hot in that blue dress that stayed seared in my mind.) The attraction was there, but we both resisted at first and the night of June 16th she called me to hang out. That night was our first kiss and we instantly became a couple.

She Says:

Jayson and I were introduced the first time by a mutual friend at MTV’s holiday party. He had heavily partaken in the open bar while I was working so only one of us really remembers the initial introduction lol. The same friend invited him out to an album release party that we were going to and Jayson met us there with his friend Angie. Prior to the party we tried to get into a Grey Goose event but that didn’t pan out so we went across the street to the Maritime Hotel and had dinner prior to the album release party. The four of us sat, but Jayson and I spent most of the night talking to each other. I thought he was such an incredible guy and really appreciated the convo! Months would pass and we’d continue to bump into each other at various events until one day my aim screen had a message from: Jayski79. I didn’t know who it was so I asked our friend who introduced us if this was him. He confirmed and from that point on we had delightful conversation over AIM just about daily. He really became a confident that I looked forward to speaking with and valued his opinion (even if over a screen). The next time we bumped into each other was at a SoBe summer Friday event where he asked for my information, I gave it to him. At that point, when we would bump into one another he would always send me the most lovely emails afterwards saying how nice it was to see me. It was on June 16th, 2010 that I attended Kelly Rowland’s album release at the Hudson with some friends and he was in route to a Bilal listening that we were emailing back and forth….many drinks were had when we both decided to ditch our events and meet up for yet more drinks. I think he thought I was alone but to his, I think, disappointment I was with some girlfriends. We all drank and had an amazing time together! The evening grew later and as the night became fuzzy the nature of our relationship changed forever <3.
